LAHORE: Governor Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar resigned from his post on Thursday.
Mr Sarwar has sent his resignation to the federal government and is expected to hold a news conference at 4 PM today. During the news conference Sarwar will disclose reasons behind his resignation and future course of action.
President Mamnoon Hussain had conveyed to Chaudhry Sarwar to resign from the post. Sources add that Sarwar had been asked to resign over a statement made by him regarding US President Obama's visit to India.
A former British MP, Sarwar had given up his British citizenship to serve Pakistan and had been appointed Governor Punjab.
