THOSE of you keen on Twitter will have noticed 'Happy Sweetest Day' trending worldwide for most of the day - but what does it mean?
Sweetest Day is a holiday celebrated in Midwestern United States, held on the third Saturday of October.
The holiday was started by Herbert Birch Kingston, a Cleveland, Ohio philanthropist and candy company employee. HE wanted to bring happiness to orphans and the under-privileged.
In 1922, he started this holiday by giving out sweets and chocolate to these people.
Critics of the holiday argue it was created by the candy industry solely to increase the sales of sweets.
Whatever you believe about the holiday's origins, it is still recognised as a holiday almost 100 years on has been celebrated by hundreds of thousands of people today.
