PML-N workers storm Rashid’s hotel, raise 'go Imran go' slogan

MULTAN – Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) workers on Thursday stormed the hotel where Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid was due to address a press conference and raised ‘go Imran go’ and ‘go Sheikh go’ slogans.

According to the details, PML-N workers attacked the hotel where Sheikh Rashid was staying. They threw stones, rotten eggs at the building and tore down Sheikh Rashid’s campaign posters. A number of PML-N workers also surrounded the Multan Press Club where Sheikh Rashid was due to address the journalists and threw rotten eggs and stones.

“Threatening Rashid with dire consequences, hundreds of hostile N-leaguers stormed the hotel, tore down his posters hanging outside, and forcibly tried to enter the hotel. They also vandalized the exterior of the hotel building while calling names to AML leader”. PMLN workers, who were chanting abusive slogans like ‘Sheeda Talli Haye Haye’, Ro Imran Ro, Go Imran Go etc.

They also showered eggs on the hotel doors and posters bearing Rashid and other leaders. Rashid, while talking to various private TV channels from the hotel said that PMLN leadership had sent these hooligans under the auspices of police only to scare him away. According to Rashid, the PML-N's Gullu Butts swooped on his hotel ahead of his press conference at 05:00PM.

“I have seen situations far worse than this. A bunch of hired goons cannot make me change my mind. I will hold the press conference as scheduled”, he said. On the other hand, PML-N Multan leader, Billal (Billu) Butt, said that Sheikh Rashid deserved to be treated like this. “He should never have used abusive words against out leaders Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif. What goes around comes around. Our workers are only protesting peacefully”, Billu Butt said.

“Though I have urged the workers to calm down, but I am afraid they are so passionate about their leader that they are just not ready to leave here”, Butt told told a tv channel. Later on, he said that PML-N workers have called off the protest outside Rashid’s hotel, but sources on the ground reported otherwise.

The PML-N bullies started retreating after thousands of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf workers showed up outside the hotel in support of Sheikh Rashid. “A large contingent of police had been called in to avoid a collision in the making as more and more Insafians were pouring in at the scene from all parts of the city.”

Reacting over the incident, Sheikh Rahsid said that all the rotten eggs would vanish with just one strike under the leadership of Imran Khan. The AML chief said that he would not get a case registered against the protesters.
