PITTSBURGH (KDKA/AP) –The Pittsburgh Steelers got back on track Sunday night with win over the Carolina Panthers. However, they paid a significant price.
Three players went down with injuries and are not expected back any time soon.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Ryan Shazier suffered a sprained MCL, Jarvis Jones will likely need wrist surgery and Ike Taylor has a broken arm.
The extent of Shazier’s injury is unknown and he will have an MRI on Monday.
Despite the injuries, the Steelers managed to pull out a 37-19 win over the Panthers to improve to 2-1 this season.
Roethlisberger threw two 7-yard touchdown passes to Antonio Brown, Le’Veon Bell ran for 147 yards and Pittsburgh outrushed the Panthers 264-42.
Roethlisberger finished 22 of 30 for 196 yards, and Brown had 90 yards receiving on 10 catches to help the Steelers (2-1) snap Carolina’s regular-season home winning streak at eight.
LeGarrette Blount ran for 118 yards, marking the first time since 1986 the Steelers have had two 100-yard rushers in a game.
The Steelers will look to keep the momentum going when they host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Sunday at Heinz Field.
