"Chicago Fire" will be returning to NBC for its brand-new third season with its premiere episode entitled "Always" on Sept. 23, 2014 at 10 p.m.
"Boden (Eamonn Walker) and the rest of the Firehouse 51 team deal with the explosion's aftermath in the Season 3 opener. Meanwhile, Casey searches for Severide, who's gone missing; Newhouse has surprising news about Mills' family; and Hermann and Otis make a decision about Molly's," the synopsis reads.
"Always" will also see the return of Jesse Spencer's Matthew Casey, Taylor Kinney's Kelly Severide, Charlie Barnett's Peter Mills, Monica Raymund's Gabriela Dawson, Lauren German's Leslie Shay, just to name a few. It has been revealed that a number of the cast members won't get to stay for the rest of the season.
As said, the premiere episode will pick up from the accident shown in the last scene of Season 2's "Real Never Waits" where almost the entire character roster was trapped inside in an exploding building.
Speculations suggest that one or two major characters won't be able to exit the exploding warehouse. Nielsen Report cited executive producer Matt Olmstead's on that fact.
"Not everybody makes it out of that building, and then certainly what people deal with in terms of the loss of whomever that character is, that's definitely what we're dealing with in the first episode and beyond," he told TV Guide.
The site further dished out the spoiler that Dawson might be "saying goodbye to Firehouse 51." This was given light when the showrunner revealed that "there will be a new face to ultimately fill in the role of the character that's not going to make it."
